Are you thinking of making some extra cash working for DoorDash as a Driver? This post will give you some information about the company and the job.
Fortunately, it is quite easy these days to find companies that offer flexible jobs.
There are companies like DoorDash that allow you to make deliveries for a living and be your own boss, and many companies exist now that will allow you to work from home doing customer service work, etc.
Doordash provides delivery services of food and other items to customers in many U.S. cities and some locations in Canada. They were founded in 2013.
Working For Doordash as a Driver
As a DoorDash Driver, you may also be referred to as a Dasher.
Your job will be to deliver food and other items from restaurants to customers. The restaurants are also called merchants.
You could be delivering burgers, pizza, breakfast items, salads, and other items. The merchants could be dine-in restaurants, fast food restaurants, etc.
You get to choose the hours you prefer to work. Basically, you will be your own boss, and you will work as an Independent Contractor.
As an independent contractor, taxes are not taken from your paycheck. You will pay your own taxes. I suggest you contact an accountant for advice and guidance on handling your taxes for this job.
Before you apply, read the Independent Contractor Agreement and all the other information on the DoorDash website. Also, be sure to take a look at the list that shows the cities they need drivers for.
Drivers need to be at least 18 years old and have a good driving record. There is more information about driving record qualifications under “Requirements” on their website. Take a look at that before you apply.
A background check is done on all drivers after consent by the potential driver is given. If your record has been clean for the past 7 years, you will most likely be okay.
The car you choose to drive while making deliveries is not a concern; but you must have auto insurance and you must be a licensed driver.
You will need an iPhone or Android smart phone. I think this is required so that you can use their app for scheduling and other communication. They have videos on their website that show you how to set up your schedule.
Drivers, aka Dashers, get paid per delivery, and they get to keep 100% of the tips they may earn on an assignment.
If you provide good service and have a professional, courteous and polite personality, you have the potential to do very well in tips.
As of the date of this post, drivers are paid weekly.
Visit their website for more details.
Doordash Driver Reviews
From what I have seen online, people love the flexibility of being a Dasher. However, things are not always perfect. Things can happen during an assignment that cause frustration or delays; but that happens with all jobs and with all companies. Try not to spend a lot of time dwelling on the mishaps. Dwelling on mishaps will just ruin your day.
Remind yourself that things happen. “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” Practice positive thinking. Amazingly, positive thinking can help you to overcome a stressful situation.
A great attitude, reliability and hard work give you the opportunity to shine.
Having a positive and upbeat attitude can affect how people view you. It makes you more likeable. You become the person that people want to be around.
Again, take a look at the DoorDash website and read all of the information.
Best wishes to you. If you have any questions or comments, you can leave them below.
